Texas-Kabul

This film is a political road movie. A journey around the globe in search of meaning to these times of war. It is also a journey into the past. The ruins of Kabul recall the devastated German towns left by the World War II. The filmmaker, concerned by the wars that have broken out since 11th September, sets out on a journey, looking for allies that are unscathed by the general panic and who lead thoughtful lives. She finds four women from different continents and cultures, who are fighting against war and globalisation and defending human rights: Arundhati Roy in India, Stacha Zajovic in Serbia, Jamila Muhajed in Afghanistan and Sissy Farenthold in Texas. “What kind of world do we want to hand on to our children? I wanted to contrast the idea of the “axis of Evil” with the notion of an axis of responsibility, and emphasise the difference between a dishonest military language that talks about a “humanitarian war” and the reality of suffering and destruction.” (H.
