Beyond My Steps follows the process of assembling the most recent performance by the only contemporary dance company in Angola. During the creation of the piece (Des)construction, the seven dancers are led to travel through a set of traditional Angolan dances and transform them by giving them new meanings.

Kamy Lara

Kamy Lara was born in 1980 in Angola. In 2007, she started working for independent productions. She was camera assistant on the film A Espada e a Rosa (2010), by João Nicolau, as well as for the French series Maison close, by Mabrouk El Mechri. In 2010, she returned to Angola and joined the team of Geração 80, in the project Angola – Nos Trilhos da Independência. At Geração 80, while working on the production of music videos, institutional videos and commercials, Kamy Lara develops her first documentary project, which resulted in Para lá dos Meus Passos.

Paula Agostinho

Born in Luanda (Angola) in 1985, Paula Agostinho graduated in Performing Arts in 2007, in Lisbon (Portugal), while taking piano and singing lessons. Back in Luanda in 2013, she became a producer at Geração 80, producing commercials, music videos and institutional videos.
