CATHERINE BIZERN Cinéma du Réel’s new General Delegate
Cinema programmer and producer Catherine Bizern will join Cinéma du Réel on September 3rd, 2018.
The 41st edition will take place from March 15th to 24th, 2019.
Catherine Bizern started working in the documentary film sector in the 90’s: she was involved in the creation of Addoc (French documentary filmmakers guild) and took part in the organization of the first “Rencontres du cinéma documentaire“, within Périphérie, a well-known center for documentary film creation.
From 2006 to 2012, she headed Entrevues Belfort international film festival and since 2012, she has been working with many film festivals and institutions, including Locarno international film festival.
She is currently producing “Kafka for kids“, Isreali artist Roee Rosen’s first feature film.
In parallel, she teaches at Cergy-Pontoise Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and participates in workshops and trainings for filmmakers at Les Ateliers Varan. She regularly writes articles for the French art magazine “Artpress“.
Focusing on the exploratory dimension of all her activities, Catherine Bizern has been aiming throughout her career at presenting different ways of filmmaking, new narratives and forms and has helped many young talents to emerge.
The Bibliothèque publique d’information and Les Amis du Cinéma du Réel’s association have complete trust in her ability to write this new page of the festival’s history.
