In April 1994, galvanized by the struggle against the Thatcher government, the miners of Tower Coal decided to buy “their mine” with their redundancy payments. Today, these workers are stockholders, employers and employees in their business, which has been reorganized as a cooperative. The mine has never been more profitable. Four years later, this film describes the facts and contradictions of this unusual undertaking, conducted by ordinary people.
