“Louis Andriessen’s music is autonomous : it dominates the soundtrack. Johan van der Keuken has composed a picture-track which is also autonomous, and which runs parallel to the music, and sometimes opposes it. For Andriessen it is a suspension of time, created by a sublime experience ; for van der Keuken associations around the notion of time are created by bits of events, scenes and situations … The movement of the camera links the earth and the air, the materiality of the pictures and the abstraction of the music”.
