On Photography, People and Modern Times

Between 1997 and 2000, Akram Zaatari conducted research in Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt, seeking private collections to be preserved under the custodianship of the Arab Image Foundation. On Photography, People and Modern Times is a documentary meditation on the process of collecting and indexing private photographic archives. As the images appear one after the other, a captivating, eclectic and anecdotal counter-historical narrative of modernity in Arab societies unravels.
