A Arca dos Zo’é
With the help of video images, Wai-Wai, the Waiampi Indian chief, tells his village about his journey into the territory of the Zo’e, an ethnic group which had, until then, lived in complete isolation from the outside world and whose dialect and traditions resemble those of the Waiampi. Discoveries are made on both sides and there is mutual fascination. They compare rituals and technology. Wai-Wai has made a round trip between two completely different worlds. One of them is still unaffected by outside influences, but is already under threat, the other is permeated by white civilisation and is familiar with both its technology – symbolized by the video equipment – and with the dangers it represents.
