Afrique 50

René Vautier
1950 France 20 minutes French

Afrique 50 was to be a commissioned film, but René Vautier films what he sees and not “real life in the French west African villages” as conceived by the Governor of Sudan. The film was seized, then illegally recovered and projected, thus becoming the first French anticolonialist film.
