Alamar
“Love stories usually end badly.” For Jorge and Roberta, it was love at first sight, a crazy kind of love of which nothing remains but photos. Jorge dreamt of a solitary life in a wild natural world, while Roberta could not live without the city lights. He has gone back to live in Mexico, she has returned to Rome with the fruit of their love, Nathan. But before separating, Roberta and Jorge had agreed that one day Nathan would go and live for a few months with his father. Nathan is five when his father takes him into his universe, which is immense and tiny, powerful and fragile: a house on the edge of the Chinchorro coral reef, one of the biggest on the planet. The film Alamar recounts this brief interlude, which is ephemeral but decisive in the child’s development. (Yann Lardeau)
