And Yet the Vikings: a Year in the Faroe Islands

Susumu Noro
1980 Japan 48 minutes undetermined

The Faroes are an archipelago of eight islands under Danish sovereignty. In 825, Vikings escaping the Norwegian king’s rule settled there to live from fishing and sheep-breeding, a lifestyle that goes unchanged for their descendants. In the summer, young boys catch seabirds from the high cliffs with nets .
