1964 Japan 63 minutes Japanese

Kenji Kimihara, a marathon runner, is selected for the Tokyo Olympic Games in October 1964. A few months before the competition, Kimihara experiences knee pains but, despite this handicap he runs and runs… on the race tracks and in narrow streets of his home village. For six months the camera stays with him, films his solitude and shows that, above and beyond the physical pain, all the shortcomings and worry, he remains determined and persevering. The film was not to the liking of the company that commissioned it, which gave rise to serious conflict.
