Austerlitz

Loznitsa captures the wanderings of visitors to the Sachsenhausen and Dachau camps using an observational method that has only a semblance of neutrality. He explores the gap between the tourist experience and the sacralisation of these places that are now monuments of remembrance. His camera questions the gaze; that of the visitors searching high and low for something to see and our view as spectators, at the same time exterior, curious and involved. (Thomas Lequeu)
