The film was made on the occasion of the doctorate honoris causa Jean Rouch got on May 30th, 1980 at the University of Leyde. Joris Ivens and Henri Storck remember the year 1929, when they directed respectively Breakers”and Pictures of Ostend. Sequences of those two films are shown, as well as a sequence of the film Cemetery in the cliff by Jean Rouch.
