Domestic Violence

Frederick Wiseman
2001 United States 196 minutes English

Wiseman’s camera observes the daily work at The Spring in Tampa (Florida), a crisis center for women who have been abused mentally and physically by their husbands: in the office with the emergency phone lines, during the police interrogations, therapeutic sessions, staff meetings, and the school activities for children’ ‘I am interested in documenting ordinary experience. Since domestic violence is a common aspect of human behavior, I thought it was an appropriate subject for a film.’ (Frederick Wiseman)
