Dossier
A self-portrait of the artist in the form of a CV. “I have a problem, I’m obsessed with everything I do. It’s exhausting.” Existence finds its response in a comical enumeration of years going backwards in time, from 2007 to 1982, from queuing in shops to buy oranges to the selfishness of the Parisians, from the letters to Olga to the quarrels with Iannis, from the discovery of the father to that of France and the ensuing disappointment in both cases, from the corny country-dance lessons to the unshakeable values of socialist realism even after the fall of the Berlin Wall. This inventory, as zany as a Prévert poem, closes with a lullaby. In the image, in counterpoint, the corridor of a flat where a blurred silhouette comes and goes. The absurdity of an existence reduced to a beaded string of years emerges with all the more forcefulness. (Yann Lardeau)
