Ecole 27
School 27
1996
Belgium
64 minutes
French; Polish
More than 25 years after leaving his country, the director goes in search of his old class mates and teachers at School 27, the last Jewish school in Poland in the sixties. Mingling memories and archival documents, the film recreates the very special atmosphere which prevailed there and recounts an experience of becoming aware, both of the repudiation of Jewishness and to its more or less forced endorsement before leaving for exile. An exile still experienced as such.
