Glaube, Liebe, Hoffnung

Andreas Voigt
1994 Germany 88 minutes German

“A film showing young people living in a city. For a whole year, we followed a group of young radicals in Leipzig. When we began making the film in December 1992, Dirk had been sent to prison for attacking a foreign workers’ hostel. His girlfriend, Jeanine, was waiting for him to come out. André is a skinhead. He works on the Christmas market and is a musician. Dad is unemployed. He was once on the Left, then he switched to the Right and back again to the Left. What are they up to this year? What has become of them by the end of 1993? Violence and aggression, hopes, dreams and fears? The film portrays the death throes of a generation. Scenes from Germany” (Andreas Voigt).
