Haiti – uden titel

Jørgen Leth
1995 Denmark 85 minutes Creole

A very personal view of Haiti by the filmmaker, Jörgen Leth, who has lived on the island for some years. A country where reality resembles fiction and events take a story-like turn. A country where history, superstition and voodoo still weigh heavily on political life. A history written in blood, made of violence, slavery, fighting and revolt… The film attempts to investigate its myths and everyday life through moments which are sometimes moving and sometimes dramatic: “It is as if Haiti has a hypnotising effect on me. Every time I go back, I have the impression of plunging into chaos. Yet, this chaos fascinates me with its mystery, its horrors, its sensuality and its surrealist scenes.” (Jörgen Leth)
