Inès Bacan is the daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter of singers. When talking about her childhood she says “In my family, if you didn’t sing well or weren’t gracious, nobody paid you any attention. And I wasn’t gracious” she adds “I never have been”. One evening, after thirty eight years of silence she sings a song which leaves her family stunned and deeply moved. An artist is born. The story is obviously somewhat complicated by the presence of the brother, a well-known guitarist. Drawn by this strange sister who is rooted to her village, he in turn draws her away to the town, a far cry from her everyday life. And when we learn that the two characters are Andalusian gypsies and flamenco musicians, does that change anything? Of course not. It is still and above all the story of a sister and a brother – a lasting story of love. (Carole Fierz)
