Zhana Arka is a section of rail track in the remote steppe of the Jezkazgan region. In Kazak “zhana arka” means new steppe. We follow Salmen Sharipoc’s long voyage by train across the region as he sells his bread to the population from his mobile “‘carriage bakery”. Each year, he travels thousands of miles.
