Josef Hauser : Klang und Raum

Othmar Schmiderer
1988 Austria 55 minutes German

Peasant and clock-maker, Josef Hauser, fascinated by sound and Gothic towers, has been working for twenty years on a “sound machine”. Alternating images of Hauser’s daily life – working on the filed, workshop, his room where he constructs his masterwork – and shots of his taxi trips to cathedrals, the film tries to penetrate the inner world of this visionary farmer.
