Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. In a rehabilitation centre for the town’s under-age delinquents, fifteen-year-old Joseph has been awaiting judgment for two years after having stolen a watch. For six months, Victorian, aged seventeen, has been detained in the central adults’ prison of Antanimora, a prison town with over four thousand detainees. He had stolen a shawl, but was unable to prove that he was a minor. For several months, the filmmakers followed Joseph’s and Victorien’s daily routine within the Malagasy legal system, starting with their initial detention through to their imprisonment. The film aims at providing a testimony of under-development and the fate reserved to this generation of children.
