Jaroslav Lukás, is a young worker in a large mechanical engineering factory. A few years earlier, he had risen fast and easily to become an influential political activist. After the congress set up to denounce the cult of personality, he no longer knows what he wants and has lost all political and personal bearings. His love for the young interior designer Vera will pay the toll.
