For his next project, a travologue producer has found a young actress, starving after the Depression. She sails with the team to a mysterious island where she is to play the Belle… but who (what) will the Beast be? The terrible creature served by the island natives will follow the blonde, as a prisoner, to New York, where its anger will be devastating before he is shot down from a plane. The founding myth, the original confrontation between the “wild” and the “civilize”, the jungle and the outcry. Cinema unbouds the paradox of the “never seen before”, of the blank point on a map, of the “first time”.
