L’ Anno di Rodolfo

Turin: FIAT’s empire is dying. Mirafiori is but a shadow of the working-class bastion it had been in the 1970s. And Agnelli, the dynasty’s last potentate, has died. Rodolfo and his comrades from the TNT workshop 81 have been made redundant, with the firm and jobs beeing relocated in the South. They carry on fighting through a workers’ committee against the Cassa Integrazione, against the company and even against the trade unions. Rodolfo lives alone. He is an activist in the increasingly weakened committee. he goes for alks, listens to jazz records, sorts his files and clocks in at his temporary job. The “working class” is no longer a social category summarily dealt with by news reports and experts. It is a man, who clings to his sense of justice, to his worker’s dignity and a few friends.
