La Fin du voyage
On the outskirts of Martigues, at the end of the “Tunnel of Oblivion” that leads to Mazet quarry, exists a world unlike our own’a world of gypsies forgotten by time. They live outdoors, share each other’s lives, eat together, light fires’ But with the years, the caravans move around less and less. The odd jobs that ensured their livelihood are no longer to be had and the occupants have all but given up their itinerant way of life. They are shortly to settle down on the housing estate that the local authorities have built for them’ The film lives through the last moments of freedom of “La Mousson” and his family. They are only too aware that, for the elderly, this change will mean disappearing memories and, for the young, a break with the traditional cultural heritage. And, in the long run, they will all finally become assimilated into the gadjé’
