La Mémoire bleue – Solange Marguerite Solange

Daniele Incalcaterra
1986 France 47 minutes French

“Old age is not only physical deterioration, it is also a loss or a sense of panic of the intellectual orientation. We came across three women: Solange, Marguerite, Solange. Born in 1900s, they have ended up in long stay at the Charles Foix hospital, Ivry-sur-Seine. These three women form a trio. They share the same place together: one is sitting, the second is walking up and down and the other one is talking. Solange, the pied noir woman, is a good speaker but chooses not to tell. Marguerite has probably understood many things but it is as if she could not find the way to tell them. As for the other Solange, to all appearances, she just says anything; however, at second glance, it looks like an immense effort to grasp and express the true nature of heir desires.” (Daniele Incalcaterra)
