La Vie de château

Jean–Yves Legrand
1997 France 50 minutes French

“A closed universe aboard the trawler Eon An Hent fishing off the Irish coast. Devoid of any technical or economical comment, the film gradually imposes the rhythm of life at sea. Other points of reference, other necessities emerge, a world that lies between Sisyphus and Achab, where the same gestures are repeated night and day, where friendships border on solitude, a world where time becomes diluted. As guides, four men who gave me their trust and wonder about their life at sea. They are both mocking and respectful, fun-loving and serious, proud and disabused. And, little by little, we begin to feel a strange connivance with these sea-bound destinies.” (Jean-Yves Legrand
