Le Carnaval des Législatives

Jean-Paul Aubert
1979 France 80 minutes French

In Limoux (south-west of France), the carnival usually starts on the first weekend of the year and ends around Easter. The title refers to the fact that the last day (and the apotheosis) of the carnival this particular year (1978) fell on the day legislative elections were to be held, and that the theme for the festival was the 1912 elections, which still have a name in the area.
