“The film follows a school year in a sixth-form class, and its philosophy teacher during their weekly five hours of lessons at the Lycée Pierre Brossolette in Villeurbanne, an establishment typical of its kind. One day they said, “Madame, the problem with you is that you teach us how to think, you don’t give us any factual knowledge.” And it was not meant as a compliment. I replied that it was the finest compliment I had ever been paid. I also told them that I was unfortunately afraid it was not true, that I did not believe I taught them how to think…” (V. Fauré, the teacher).
