Oued Hamlil, a village torn apart by eight years of civil war, is situated 200 kilometres west of Algiers. Eleven-year-old Kamel is the son of a terrorist who died in the maquis. With his sister Fatima, he scours the streets begging for money and food to keep his family. Even though some doors open to them, most remain closed. The villagers are seemingly unwilling to pardon the father’s sins.
