Les Combattants africains de la grande guerre

Laurent Dussaux
1984 France 75 minutes French

August 1914. France enters war. She needs gold, weapons, combattants. French colonies and protectorates will supply her with nearly 250 000 of the latter. 60 000 combattants died during the war, but today. There are still a few survivors of that epic who bear witness in the film. A reading of documents from archives, commented upon by historians, cineasts, writers qualify the element provided by these 85 to 90 year old men.
