Les Fantômes de Victoria

“Having left Chile at the age of four, I wanted to rediscover the landscapes from my childhood. I began my trip in a truck heading north across the pampas. I broke the journey mid-desert and stopped off at the only bar in a curious village called Victoria. There, I spent a strange night around a table, talking about things which belong to the solitary imaginative world of truck drivers. These nomads had adopted the place as a meeting point, a sort of oasis to break their loneliness. Tongues started wagging and stories came out about women, ghosts… When I set off to walk around the village, I realised there were no inhabitants, and that behind the façades the houses had been torn down. This aroused my curiosity and prompted me to return there seven years later, determined to shed light on its history.” (Ronnie Ramirez)
