Madame B.

Thomas Sipp
2004 France 10 minutes Spanish

“I wanted to recreate what I had found touching in the villa B., a modernist building perched high on one of the hills east of Caracas in Venezuela. The beauty of the architecture and of the very elderly Mrs. B., who still lives there. The ghostly presence of her missing son, Rodrigo, whose image decorates the walls. The emblematic size of this palace, now a ‘white elephant’ surrounded by shanty towns that have sprung up with the country’s political and economic decline.” (Thomas Sipp).
