In 1967, the government decides to build a new international airport at Narita. However, the local population has not been consulted in the decision-making process. When the authorities arrive to inspect the land of those farmers in favour of the project, the inhabitants of Sanrizuka village protest. This starts off a conflict that is to last many years. This film is the first in a series of seven documentaries in which Ogawa follows the actions and lives of the protesting farmers. At the same time, he develops an original cinematographic approach, sharing these farmers’ daily lives.
