Os Homens do presidente

The efforts undertaken in the 70s by pioneers emigrating to Amazonia and the Mato Grosso in order to clear and make productive uncultivated areas, efforts encouraged by the Figueiredo government and which become a « national priority » in 1979 ; followed by the abandonment of this governmental policy, the withdrawal of public authority support, the helplessness of destitute families. The film illustrates, from an example taken from agriculture, the general Brasilian economic situation.
