Paris la nuit

Jacques Baratier
Jean Valère
1956 France 23 minutes no words

At nightfall, the city changes face. While certain areas of Paris become deserted and seem to doze off, others, on the contrary, come to life and attract night people. Baratier’s and Valère’s camera roams over an unexpected side of Paris, observing the various activities which take place. Market workers, street hawkers, the many-coloured multitude which frequent bars and night-clubs, the tourists and the regulars of red-light districts make up the many facets of nocturnal Paris.
