Peterka : Leto Odlocitve

Vlado Skafar
2003 Slovenia 120 minutes English; German; Slovenian

After two consecutive years of winning the world cup for ski-jumping, the Slovenian champion, Primoz Peterka, has lived through three difficult years. The film follows him during the “decisive year” running up to the Olympic Games. This is when he decides to get back to the top of his career and tries to strike a balance between his private life?thanks to Renata’s love and his son’s birth?and his sports life. ‘As a fan and a filmmaker, I wanted to witness first-hand an effort that had not borne fruit for three years. The whole film crew and I believed that our presence could help him in his task. As a filmmaker, I wanted to capture the rich portrait of a special man in a special year. By taking a close look, I wondered whether it would be possible to uncover the secret of life in all its appealing beauty.’ (Vlado Skafar)
