Hajiba and Soumia are young Moroccan girls brought illegally into France when they were still minors. In Marseilles, they find themselves working as “enslaved” housemaids for Moroccan families. After their “liberation”, the filmmaker shares their everyday life for a year in the hostels that shelter them and with Esclavage Tolérance Zéro, an association that helps them out. The thread of this documentary, which unfolds with the appropriate rhythm and words, is the slow and painstakingly difficult rebuilding of an “identity”. From enslavement to freedom, from silence to expression, from fear to courage and confidence, from a silent child to a young woman who finds her body and personality once again.
