Que faire ?

André Van In
1993 France 58 minutes French

During the crucial period before the Parliamentary elections, from December 1992 to May 1993, André Van In filmed the meetings of a Communist cell in Bagnolet, a district in the Paris suburbs and formerly a French Communist Party seat. In the context of the disintegration of the Soviet Union, and general dissatisfaction with the Party, the old militants, who have seen better days, question themselves. As a backdrop to these meetings, the militants recount their commitments, dreams and errors. Beyond the questions of power and party apparatus, they testify through their grassroots activities to their faith in militancy and to their devotion to a fairer society.
