Raise the Dead
At the age of 79, Richard Hall is still tirelessly zipping through small towns and valleys in the Appalachians in the typically American Evangelical tradition: he puts up his marquee, starts preaching and lays his hands on those believers that hope to be healed. Inspired by Hall, who before the war had himself taken inspiration from the immensely popular itinerant preacher William Branham, two of his flock, Mike Ferree and Eula Shelton likewise hope for the revival of the Spirit. Both, in their own style, galvanise their congregation into action, but have difficulty in extending their influence. Throughout their travels, accompanied by the haunting music of the deep South, the portrait is painted of a harsh, once prosperous, mining region that today lies abandoned.
