Karinkan, Fanny and Said recount their experience of torture-an experience which has left their minds and their bodies irretrievably impaired. Karinkan was a junior executive in Guinea. Fanny, a former nurse, attended on wounded militants in Chile. Said was only thirteen years old when he was arrested by French officers in Algeria. For all of them, the narrative of their experience is tantamount to undergoing the trauma of torture once again. Each account is told with candour, and fraught with painful memories. The different stories finally merge into a single one, that of man alone, utterly defeceless when in the hands of a power intent on crushing him.
