Seven Scenes of Plenty

Michael Mascha
1988 Austria 72 minutes undetermined

The film is about the normal life on a small island (Matuku) in the Fiji archipelago. As the first part of a trilogy on Fiji the film provides a seven scenes synopsis of the rural economy, the social pattern and the economic pressures faced by the inhabitants today. A life between the gardens and the sea, the solitary work in the household and collective fishing. A small and quiet film of ordinary people in ordinary situations. (Michael Mascha)
