Stau – Jetzt geht’s los
“We are no different from others, only slightly more rightwing” is how Ronny describes himself. “You are a bunch of nuts”, replies the father. “You don’t even understand what it is we want”, answers the son. Who are these young people from Halle in former East Germany attracted to the extreme right ? The filmmaker attempts to go beyond the aspect of groups to get to their personality. He asks them about their lives, the relationship with their parents, their work, their attitude towards love. He films them in the club where they get together and on their outings and binges. What emerges is not just a society in crisis, where values, rights, duties and taboos have collapsed. It is a grey city, threatened by unemployment and a lack of culture. A blockage. In the streets, in the head and in feelings.
Né en 1955 à Berlin-est, il étudie l’imprimerie, puis à partir de 1975, il est assistant-réalisateur aux studios Defa de films de fiction. Il entre en 1978 à l’école de cinéma de Potsdam- Babelsberg, dont il est renvoyé. A partir de 1983, il est metteur en scène indépendant de théâtre, souvent pour et avec Heiner Müller, de radio, et de documentaires. Jusqu’à la fin de la RDA, ses travaux sont « classés », interdits, parfois détruits. Ce dont témoignent les doubles dates d’une partie de sa filmographie, entre année de production et année de diffusion. Ses travaux récents interrogent fréquemment l’absence de repères, le désespoir comme le désir de vivre de la jeunesse, dans l’Allemagne de l’après 1991.
