Shu Kei decided to make a film which reflected the impact of the events in China on the people of Hong Kong, including his own family and friends. The massacre forced people to decide whether to stay and brave it out or try and emigrate. In making this film of the Tiananmen Square tragedy, Shu Kei travelled all over the world to talk with people.
