Made for the 1393 Universal Exhibition, the film traces the stages of the expansion and frenetic growth of American cities.
Willard Dyke
Cinéaste et photographe américain (1906-1986), élève d’Edward Weston à la fin des années 20, il vient au cinéma dans les années 30 à New York. Rencontre les cinéastes Paul Strand et Pare Lorentz. Il est l’un des photographes du film The River. Pendant la guerre il produit des films de propagande.Dans les années 50, il aura à lutter contre le Mc Carthysme.
Il sera le directeur du département “film” du MOMA de 1965 à 1974.
