Kazuko Hohki returns to Japan with her rockband after an absence of 15 years. To please her mother, she agrees to get married according to the rituals of the religion of which her mother is priestess. Since while her father attends to his hobbies, traditional dance or calligraphy, the house belongs to the women. The House of Development encourages them to gain confidence and develop their individuality, for example through the early morning laughter practice. The film enters the intimacy of Japanese women – friends, sister-in-law and followers of the religion express themselves unreservedly on the role accorded to them by Japanese society.
