Voyage au centre de la Tour

Jocelyne Lemaire-Darnaud
1998 France 57 minutes French

At the Eiffel Tower, thirty-four workers busy themselves 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year so as to prolong the hundred-year-old great lady’s life and ensure the comfort and safety of her five million yearly admirers. Like little ants caught up in the fabulous lacework of this enchanting spider’s web, they can be found lodged in the lift shafts, shut up in the accumulators or hanging from the edges of the footbridges. Whether they be painters or locksmiths, plumbers or electricians, they are familiar with every nook and cranny, from the basements to the fourth floor. They combine their love of a good job done with a certain sense of poetry… and they always know how to share their pleasure with others.
