Yallanga / Plamia

Over the last few years, in Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and certain regions of Uzbekistan, an increase in the cases of immolation by fire among women and young girls has been noted. This form of suicide is contrary to the principles of Islam, but clearly reflects the consequences of the extreme suffering that the women endure, trapped between poverty and feudal tradition, with no hope of a better life to come.
