In the heat of the Moroccan summer, a well is being dug in the village of Cruz, nearby the house of Khalti Khadouj, a widow with nine children. As work is progressing, so is the preparation of the sheep sacrifice and the feast to ritually celebrate the end of the digging, since the well has a religious significance – life goes on and people talk nineteen to the dozen… The emigrants who left to make their fortune in Europe have come back to the village for their holidays, their cousins try to follow in their footsteps by obtaining the magic visa that will open up the Belgian borders to them, and the young girls dream of finding there an ideal husband.
